Cur síos ar an scannán:

Is é Patsy Dan Mag Ruaidhri Rí deireanach na hÉireann an Rí deireanach in Éirinn, atá ina chónaí ar Oileán Thoraí, an t-oileán is iargúlta a bhfuil daoine ina gcónaí air, creag bheag san Atlantach ar a bhfuil daonlach céad is caoga Gaeilgeoirí. Agus é ag fáil cóir leighis le haghaidh ailse, tugann sé aghaidh ar neamhaird Rialtas na hÉireann ar a phobal. Tar éis dóibh teacht ar ais ó bheith idir dhá cheann na meá agus iad ar tí aslonnaithe 30 bliain ó shin, tá ar an Rí agus a phobal tabhairt faoi fheachtas chun cearta rochtain shlán a aimsiú trasna Cainéal Thoraí, 9 míle fhealltacha den Aigéan Atlantach Thuaidh.

Beidh fáilte romhat ag an London Irish Centre i gCeamdain.

Tar éis an scannáin, beidh PopUp Gaeltacht ar siúl, i ngrúpaí beaga agus ag táblaí áirithe agus beidh fáilte roimh chách, cibé leibhéal Gaeilge atá agat.

First appearing at Galway Film Fleadh in 2020, Loïc Jourdain’s The Tribe of Gods focuses on the lives of the people of Tory Island - a Gaeltacht community off the coast of Donegal and a fiercely independent community with its own laws and practices. Central to this unique documentary is the story of Patsy Dan Mag Ruaidhri, the last king of Tory Island.

Patsy Dan Mag Ruaidhri is the last King of Ireland, who lives on Tory Island; Ireland’s most remote inhabited island, a small rock in the Atlantic with a hundred and a fifty strong Irish speaking community. While undergoing treatment for cancer, Patsy is confronted with the neglect of his community by the Irish Government. Having made a come-back from the knife-edge of evacuation some 30 years ago, the King and his community are forced to undertake a new campaign to fight for their rights for safe access across the treacherous 9 sea miles of the North Atlantic Ocean that is the Tory Sound.

This FREE event will have limited capacity due to ongoing social distancing regulations, but pre-booked tickets are essential. Be sure to pick up your ticket today
